You believe.

You have believed in each and everyone of us in a way that I truly would never be able to describe. No matter how many times life placed us in an untenable situation, you found a way to always see the best in us. No matter the storm, you always looked us in the eyes and simply said “I will be here”. This Mother’s Day, I want to celebrate you, your faith in each of us in this crazy little family of ours and take a moment to celebrate just how amazing you truly are. Thank you for being the loving core to each of one of us in such a special way.

To My House.

I have one last night with you, just me and you. I am full of so many emotions but the overwhelming one is gratefulness. When I bought you, you were a neglected and abused foreclosure. Animals had defecated on you, anything that could be ripped out was taken and I am pretty sure the previous owners even tried setting you on fire.

Shortly after I bought you, we brought home two kittens. Two kittens that were brothers, they were plucked from the streets and needed to stay together. They ran through your hallways, climbed everything they could and made both my both my boys squeal with glee.

You watched as Jayden went from a boy to a man. You survived the teenage years and thrown balls, dented fridges and so many game nights. You were the perfect house for him and I know you were a place of safety among the storms for him.

Soon you welcomed a new person, someone who loved your wrap around porch the first time she saw it. Elizabeth. Elizabeth could see what you really could be and was so excited to help you become the best version of yourself. She does that with a lot of people.

You saw me at my lowest of lows. It was in those lows though, where we bonded. Sure I had given you a fresh coat of paint and some carpet but I really had not rolled up my sleeves and really put in the work to change who you were. As I took the time to rebuild you, I was doing the same with my heart and my life. I remember pulling trim through tears.

I even took some of the light fixtures from my studio that survived the fire and brought them home. They will stay with you, you deserve a piece of my life as well.

You saw us bring home our little Bear. That little room on the Southwest corner was such a favorite of his. Bear LOVED his bedroom. It was his and his alone and he always felt safe if there.

Thank you House. Thank you for being the perfect house for each one of us. Tomorrow Elizabeth, Jayden, Bear and I will all start some sort of new adventure but it will be without you. We will cherish every memory you gave us House.

With this birthday post, 3 of my last 15 instagram posts will be of me wishing you a happy birthday. While that may mean I have been horrible at posting at instagram, to me it shows just how much you matter to me.

You are so many different things to so many people and everyday you seem to be inspired to do something else. I hope this post showcases all those things. For me, you are just my person and I am so thankful to have you by my side.

I love you so very much and today we celebrate you.

Me at 11pm watching Nina hold her drink and her dress because she has ripped every bustle, while her and Matt are surrounded by every friend that matters in their lives - After 15 years of weddings, these moments are I will always cherish as a photographer.

I don`t care if your wedding is elegant, demure, emotional, a party, in a barn, in the city, huge, intimate, whiskey fueled or in a church basement.

Just be in love and be ready to love your day.
